Prof. Dr. Russell McKenna serves as the key link between the Chair of Energy Systems Analysis (ETH-ESA) and the Lab for Energy System Analysis (PSI-LEA) at the Paul Scherrer Institute. This collaboration aims to strengthen links between ETH and PSI in research and teaching of energy systems analysis.

Since February 1, 2022, Russell McKenna has been a Full Professor of Energy Systems Analysis in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering. To learn more, check out his Download professor card (PDF, 841 KB).

Additional Information

Our research seeks to combine quantitative approaches from engineering and economics with qualitative approaches such as stakeholder engagement processes to explore the integration of Low Carbon Technologies into decentralized energy systems. Current research topics include resource assessment methods for Low Carbon Technologies, decentralised low-carbon energy systems, socioeconomic dimensions of energy demand, and energy infrastructure, sector coupling and energy system integration.
